How we count
The figures on this website are counted again in the product at every publication: the number of active records (not removed, archived or merged), the number with a website, with a sector category and with at least one dated fact.
The right denominator
A record is an observed listing. Branches, duplicate listings and merged identities affect the count. We do not present the explorer as every Dutch business and we do not count distinct legal entities.
Two kinds of dates
Name, city, website and size carry the date of the newest source sighting of the whole record. Description, phone, awards, grants and signals each have their own observation date and expiry. “Seen on” says when a system saw a value, not that the value is correct today. There is no “checked today” stamp: a date is always a real observation, never the moment you open the page.
Labels instead of blocks
Nothing is blocked on the way in. Each field is stored with its origin, and that origin stays internal. Where a licence requires attribution, the notice travels with the delivery. You export within your account limits, as CSV or through REST and MCP.
Sectors and provinces
The sector filter uses the sources’ own categories (18 categories, in English, such as software_development or electrician), with the record count per category. There is no proprietary sector scheme and no SBI mapping. The province filter uses the derived operating region per company; see the province pages for the counts per province.
Public figures
Published counts need a source, a measurement date and an explanation of the selection. Small groups and combinations are assessed for identifiability before publication.
