The source belongs with the fact.

FirmTrove collects company data from open datasets and company websites. This page explains which sources are used and how often they are retrieved.

Origin, age and permission are assessed per field.

What the explorer holds

The explorer holds 4,306,825 active companies: records that are not deleted, retired or merged into another record. 1,463,490 of them have a website and 2,957,640 a KVK number. A record is an observed listing under the described method: not a national census, not a distinct legal entity, and a branch is not necessarily a separate company.

The sources

Overture Maps Places

Open dataset of business listings (places) with name, city, website and category. Licence CDLA-Permissive-2.0; Foursquare parts under Apache 2.0 and AllThePlaces under CC0. Required notice: “Contains information from Overture Maps Foundation (overturemaps.org), made available under CDLA-Permissive-2.0.” In the product these fields carry the label attribution required; the CSV export puts the notice at the top. Refreshed every 90 days. Coverage: the Netherlands.

TenderNed

Notices of awarded public contracts from the Dutch procurement platform (PIANOo/RVO), through data.overheid.nl under CC0 1.0. Contributes per company: buyer, award date, CPV category and project description. No contact persons and no email addresses. Refreshed every 180 days.

TED (Tenders Electronic Daily)

European tender awards to Dutch suppliers, retrieved through the TED Search API. Reused under Decision 2011/833/EU; editorial content CC BY 4.0. Notice: “Source: Tenders Electronic Daily (TED), © European Union.” An award is a dated fact about the past, not a current buying signal. Refreshed every 7 days.

RVO Projectendatabase

Awarded grants and projects from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, as an open CSV under CC0 1.0. Contributes scheme, year and amount as the grantor publishes them. No personal data: RVO omits the name where the applicant is a natural person. Refreshed every 30 days.

KVK Open Datasets

Legal form, start date, SBI codes, status and filed annual figures (balance sheet, income statement and cash flow, the last three financial years) of BVs and NVs, requested per KVK number from KVK’s open datasets Basis Bedrijfsgegevens and Jaarrekeningen. Licence CC BY 4.0. Contains data from KVK. Revenue and staff numbers are not in these datasets. Refreshed yearly.

The company’s own website

One stored fetch of the homepage per company. From it we take only what the page literally says: the proposition, a published phone number, named customer sectors and timely signals such as vacancies. Each fact keeps the URL, the fetch time and the literal quote as evidence. There is no general licence on website text; we quote briefly with attribution and remove on request. Refreshed every 30 days; facts expire after 60 to 365 days.

KVK-derived and archive sightings

A small share of records (0) takes its identity from older KVK-derived sources or from the KVK trade register. Records with KVK data are not excluded from export or API delivery by default and fall under the same account limits.

Role and personal mailboxes

A role address such as info@ or sales@ is delivered. An address of a named person or a non-role address is labelled personal data (GDPR) and included in the export for confirmed accounts; that label is on 252,011 records. FirmTrove grants no permission for unsolicited marketing.

Observed, quoted or derived

Name, city, website, category and awards are observed: they appear that way in the source. Proposition, phone and signals are quoted: verbatim from the company’s own website, with location. The only derived value is the merge of identities into one record. The product shows no confidence score.

Correction and removal

Found an incorrect fact about your company? Use the correction page. A removal also withdraws earlier exports of that company.
